Sized to the sofa, not bought on its own
A centre table is the one piece people buy entirely on looks, and the one most often the wrong size. It is not a standalone object: it belongs to the sofa it sits in front of, and its height and length are decided by that sofa.
Because ours are made to order, the table can be sized to the seating you already own rather than the other way round.
What actually matters, before the design does.
A centre table should sit at roughly the height of the sofa seat cushion, or very slightly below. Higher and it is awkward to reach into; much lower and it disappears. This single measurement settles more than any other.
Allow around two thirds the length of the sofa, and leave roughly fifteen inches between the table and the seat so a person can pass without turning sideways. A table that fills the gap looks generous and makes the room unusable.
This is the surface that meets hot cups and wet glasses more than any other in the house. A solid top that can be refinished, or a stone inset where the finish must stay perfect, outlasts a thin veneer in this position.
A side table is wanted at the height of the sofa arm, so a cup can be set down without looking. Two matching ones at either end settle a room more than one larger table in the middle, and they are far easier to move.
Measure the sofa: seat height, overall length, and the distance to the wall or television. We will size the table from those three numbers.
Every piece is built after you order it — your size, your wood, your finish.
